Europe Trip 2 - The Fashion Capital : Milan

Easyjet did a pretty good job by providing cheap and smooth no frill traveling experience within the European countries. I arrived at the Milan Linate Airport, then boarded the shutter bus to my hotel located at the Centrale FS which about half an hour away. Along the way, I did not see any interesting building or houses, but only graffiti, and lots of them. There are everywhere, on the walls, gates, roller shutter, bridge girders, stations, trains and etc... I checked into the hotel and immediately grabbed my camera and dashed straight to the metro station. To my surprise, the station seems deserted! The underground link way was filled with unpleasant urine smell, leakage stains can be seen all over the walls and ceiling. There was NO one in the metro station, only a handful of Japanese tourists and three guards who were chatting by the ticketing machine. Luckily enough, one of them is kind enough to help me on the ticketing machine. Wow, the ticket cost only €1.50 for an unlimited 90 min journey. I finally reach the city centre and managed to cover the Duomo church, and the shopping district of San Babila. It is a fashion city indeed, many people here dressed up nicely and... Fashionably. I found myself somehow out of place here. I also cannot resist the temptation offered here, and finally gave in and spend a couple hundred euros for a few piece from the famous labels.

There are nothing much to see in Milan other than shopping centers, and the world famous wall painting of The Last Supper by Michelangelo at Church Santa Maria Delle Grazie. Please take note that one has to secure the tickets online months before the visit and unfortunately all tickets were sold out when I did my trip planning. However, you still can try your luck for the release of the cancellation ticket available at the ticket counter, starting early in the morning. I'm lucky enough to get one;) the painting is being kept in the air tight chamber that visitors are require to go through a series of automated air lock to finally see the masterpiece.

Don't forget to try the gelato from 'Chocolat' on your way back. It's the best and creamiest gelato I have ever had!
