My first impression, the city is clean! No graffiti and no unpleasant smell in the tube station and lots of tourist perhaps it's the coming Easter holiday. From the Gatwick airport, I bought a day pass and boarded the fast train to East Croydon where the tourist information centre offered great help in providing many useful information and discount vouchers. Without wasting any time, I covered the Big Ben, the London eye, Oxford street (shopping district), on the first night. As for the second day, I went to the British museum in the morning after a hearty breakfast at the Sainbury departmental store where One can get food, fruits at a bargain. The weather was bad today as it started raining from the afternoon. After lunch ( a big portion of fish and chips, which cost about £8) I went for the river cruise along the london Thames river. The journey from the Westminster pier to The Greenwich took about 1 hour. The captain of the cruise ship took the initiative to provide commentary to the buildings and bridges along the ride and it was very informative. I took a short walk at the Greenwich town, a quiet town home to many old style English houses. From there I went to the London tower, which is a old castle. The final day I sort of had a express tour around the Westminster area, the Buckingham Palace, the St. James park and the Chinatown. After having visited Paris and Milan, London is obviously cleaner and well maintained. The Britain generally also seems more polite and helpful. All the best to you for London Olympic 2012.
